This is the largest nugget found by Robbie so far. An incredible museum grade 36.2g nugget of leadhills gold, a minimum of 17 carats purity is typical for this location.
Robbie named it the “Double Skull” after spotting what he believes looks like a skull on both sides.
This exceptional nugget is heavily pitted displaying rounded edges from being exposed to river abrasions over thousands of years. The darker and sharper areas is evidence of where it has been wedged into a crevice in the river and where it has been shielded from the natural weathering processes. It is also beautifully speckled with minor quartz inclusions.
